Roost (“栖息”, the “App”) is a stress, sleep, and habit companion for iPhone and Apple Watch. We built Roost to be private by design: your health information stays on your device. This policy explains what the App does and does not do with your data.
With your permission, Roost reads data from Apple Health (HealthKit) to power its features — for example sleep, steps, heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), respiratory rate, blood oxygen, and mindful minutes. With your permission, Roost may also write data back to Apple Health, such as water intake and mindfulness sessions.
This data is used only on your device to display insights, compute your stress/recovery scores, and drive reminders. It is never transmitted off your device, sold, or shared. Health data is not used for advertising or marketing. You can review and revoke Roost’s Health permissions at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Roost.
Information you create in the App — reminders, habit check-ins, mood entries, achievements, ritual preferences, and your chosen mascot/theme — is stored locally on your device (in the app’s private storage and shared App Group container). It is not backed up to our servers because we have none. Standard iCloud device backups, if you enable them, are governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
Roost offers a one-time in-app purchase to unlock Pro features. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple’s App Store / StoreKit. We do not see or store your payment details. Apple processes the transaction and shares only anonymous purchase-validation information needed to unlock the feature on your devices. “Restore Purchases” simply re-checks your Apple receipt.
Reminders, wind-down prompts, and wake alarms are delivered as local notifications scheduled on your device. They do not pass through any remote push server operated by us.
Roost includes no third-party advertising, analytics, or social SDKs. The only external party involved is Apple, through the operating system services the App uses (HealthKit, notifications, StoreKit), under Apple’s own privacy terms.
Because your data lives on your device, you are in control of it. You can clear all locally stored app data at any time from Settings → 重置本地数据 (Reset Local Data) inside the App. Deleting the App removes its local data. Health data is managed in Apple Health and is not deleted by removing Roost.
Roost is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
